I wanted to do this one for a long time. B)
I gave it a try lately and created a videoclip containing all relevant excerpts of the 80's Astro and Uran along with their friends and foes, and I have to confess that it turned out to be quite good in terms of timing with music and visual approach. However, the video quality may not be exactly what you may expect as it is on the Madman/Manga releases, nonetheless I'm pretty happy with the result.
I had uploaded it both on Fafner's as well as on Anapan's FTP.

The file's name: Astro in the Tunnel Of Love.mpg size about 91MB

Fafner's FTP:
ftp://ftp_user:ESQhJ@wotan.homelinux.com/pub
or http://wotan.homelinux.com/pub

Anapan's FTP:
ftp://ast:ast@atomu.ath.cx:6872/

Directory: Upload folder on both FTPs.

Any comments about this clip are welcomed and gladly appreciated.

Enjoy!

I moved the clip in the folder "astro_clips": ftp://ftp_user:ESQhJ@wotan.homelinux.com/...20Of%20Love.mpg

Thanks Strange Wings! :D I loved it, you are right to be proud of it. Which software did you use to put this one together?

I did use Hauppauge WinTV USB connected with a VCR's video output, while I connected the WinTV's audio input with an ordinary CD player. The challenge was to start both the VCR and the CD player at exactly the same time, otherwise the song's refrain would had missed the relevant video parts (ie. such as Astro flying through the tunnel, etc).

A lot of DVD shifting had to be done first before I was ready to mix the whole thing to an mpeg file:
I did it the old-fashioned way and connected the DVD player with the VCR and continually taped the desired video excerpts, whilst watching the song's time code for placing the scenes in the correct order at the right positions.

Undoubtedly there's existing more appropriate software for video/audio editing, but it worked anyway :D . After all it's just a fun project and far apart from being professional. ;)

:o :o :o :o :o

Wow! I wouldn't even attempt something with that method!

I'm thinking more Windows Movie Maker to try to my own someday! The thing is that my hard drive is very small, so it would make it a little harder, but it would still be easier than what you did! ;)

I initially considered using either VirtualDub or WMM, but I couldn't find a way to replace the videofile's audio with a different one. Neither NeroVision Express 6 seems to feature this option.

There's probably special software around for that too, however I didn't feel like bothering myself about especially downloading a program that I'm going to use 1 or 2 times a year, tops. ;)

There must be a way to replace the audio file in WMM... I'll try to find how, I know many people who made montages with it.

What am I doing here at this hour?
