Whoa, I love the text color feature in Nvu! I've yet to find such an option in Dreamweaver!
I have also experienced a few bugs in Dreamweaver. Never in my life will I ever again use that "editable regions" option... :d oh: It was a disaster the last time I did that!
Actually, I use it only to have my code in color and be able to easily switch from one page to another. I don't even think of using the available features to create my code.

I haven't tried it so I can't really help (I only looked at the website), but take a look at this page. There are guides, good links and a forum.
However, before even trying to understand how it works, if I were you, I would find a good html tutorial website (there are suggestions in the above page, but there are also tons of ressources on the Internet) and I would start learning how the html tags work, if you don't know much about it.
The more you understand them, the easier it is to get the result you want. IMO, of course.
And today, the way to go to get a good design is through CSS stylesheets.
That way, you can change your design as much as you want without having to go through each page to make a change.
If you have more specific questions about html, just ask and I'm sure a few of us will be able to help.
