I truly envy people who have the gift of writing, because - without any doubts - a certain talent is needed for becoming a novelist. There's no way in heck I'll ever manage to write something like that useful for other people to read since 1st: My typing is that slow most people are taking a nap til I'm finished with my posts; 2nd: My limited vocabulary as well as my habit of putting together orthographically incorrect sentences would make the read process turn out to be a pain in the neck, which effects might be similar with a first-class sleeping pill to anyone who has chosen the horrible fate of reading my stories; 3rd: Surely I wouldn't be able staying on subject within the written lines and I would jump off-topic after each 3rd sentence, making the reader's life overflowing of frustration and acute suicide thoughts; 4th: My limited spare time doesn't allow any more time consuming things aside fooling around in WindblowsPaint, doing Astro screenshot print-outs, taking Kung Fu lessons (exam for the 1st grade is on dec.16th, yay!), all that combined with a 7 to 5 occupation in an envelope printing store. The rest of my time I'm wasting away with sleeping, sending silly emails to a cousin of mine, wasting time by thinking whether to jump on the bike and having a ride (although each time I do so, the weather turns against my will and it starts to rain), and doing completely senseless posts in the Tetsuwan forum suchlike as this one.

Recapitulating translation of the whole balderdash written above: I'm just too bloody lazy! :D

Yeah, Strange Wings, you are participating too? Given what you wrote, you have a good start and will finish writing your 50.000 words before the end of the week :D
Oh wait... your post says you won't  Sorry, I thought it was the start of a novel

:p

You know, I do not want to become a novelist! I don't think what I will write will be useful nor entertaining. ;) I just participate for the sake of it. I haven't written fiction since high school, and I have always been MUCH better in essays, and I have no ambition for this story. I just thought I would write to improve myself and see what I can get out of it when it comes to creating a plot, keeping a cohesive story, creating characters, etc. In other words, I do it for myself! ;)

It's not the reading process that counts, it's the writing process! :D As for your spelling or grammar, I think you aren't nearly as bad as you say, especially considering English is a foreign language. I'm sure you are even better in German. (Again, Nanowrimo doesn't have to be in English. There's no way I'd write 50 000 words in English! At least not for a single story - I'm sure I have typed more than 50 000 here! :p )

Just consider my post to be an ultra-short novel about my decline of writing novels. :p
(Why do I suddenly feel myself like a puppy who's biting in its own tail?!)

:) Oh, for sure I do agree about this site being an ideal platform for improving one's own style in writing.
Back in schooldays, we too used to write a lot of essays in our class, and I felt comfortable in that field as well as I did in our native language's grammar lessons. It's not so much about conceiving stories which is serving me with trouble, it's more about how to write down one's thoughts in a way comprehendible to outside people. I guess it's all a matter of sorting out the relevant from the unrelevant things to write. Buuuut... how do I recognize what's relevant to write and what isn't? After all, there are existing authors and authors on this world: such who're filling 1000 pages of tomes ending up weighing 10 kg, without actually having 'said' anything at all, and also such who can put togehter a funny, lively story in less than 3/4 of a single page. I'm afraid I very much likely might tend belonging to the former mentioned.

:o hmy: Beware, you might encourage me changing my attitude! Anyway, thanks for the kind words :D . Maybe someday the writing spell is going to grab me, but for the time being I don't feel the urge of penetrating this site with my drawdown of cerebrospinal fluids. :whistling:
