Aaaaah, I don't know how I'll ever manage to visit everything that I find interesting in Europe."Strange Wings" wrote:I'm not living in the city of Berne directly, but in a suburb about 7 km close to it, however I use to go to the city almost every weekend for shopping, meeting friends, etc.
Berne is beautiful indeed, not just the city, but also the different locations around it, the landscapes and mountains. Another beautiful city lying in the canton of Berne being Thun, located directly at a picturesque lake surrounded by mountains having an altitude up to 1500 km. My sister's family is living there, pretty fitting location for the draughtswoman she is.![]()

But that takes the fun out of it!"Strange Wings" wrote:So true! Remember the phrase "What are you looking after the splint in your brother's eye for, when you don't recognize the timber in your own"? Each time I watch such kind of series, I really have to practise self-control not to slip into notions as 'Yeah, go tell it to my neighbour' or 'I hope my brother is watching this too'!![]()

I think the TV channels are doing a pretty good job at presenting entires series in a logical schedule here, at least as far as children's shows are concerned. Astro Boy (2003) went all the way through, 3 or 4 times in a row over about a year, and then that was it. It's the same for other shows. I know that in the US, or even in fafner's country, it was another story.
We do not have many children's shows on weekdays anymore, at least on general channels, because so many mothers are working that there is nobody left at home to watch them. Of course there are also dedicated children and teens channels. However, there are still children's shows on the weekend on our national channel.

"Strange Wings" wrote:Also, they didn't send an episode each day but only one per week, which was far the less chance to miss a particular ep. Like this, I always could wait in joyful anticipation for Astro's next upcoming adventure.
The 2003 series went on air on a children's channel. There was one episode every day, but there were repetitions through the weekend (and even also on the same day for a while, I believe).
I remember how spoiled I felt when the 1980 series was rebroadcast on both Saturdays and Sundays at one point, with two episodes each day.

Oh really? I had no clue what those items were. It's hard to guess on the picture. I'm glad I posted it, because at least I know what they were now!I think some items shown in that pic are still around on eBay.Judging by the the booklet's cover to the upper left, it's a painting book I spotted some time ago on the french eBay site. The other Astro poses are looking kinda familiar too!

Yes, that's it. It should be very obvious to any Astro Boy fan though, but I agree anyway that we are diehard fans!"Strange Wings" wrote:Me too, I think we spotted the same one, didn't we? Something that should be green, is actually white there...
*sigh* diehard sure is our middle name!![]()
