Gaston's improved door is definitely one of my favorite sequence of this book! :w00t:

A1: (Fantasio) This door causes draughts. It has to remain closed!
(Gaston) I always get out of here with my hands full... We need an automatic closing door device, that's what we need!
A2: (Fantasio) The publisher refuses to buy one... [note: they work for a newspaper/magazine]
(Gaston): Who will have to make something? It's Gastonnnnnnnn...
A3: ?! T... T... There's somebody here who walks on the doors!!!
A6: (Gaston) Of course, he's hiding so he doesn't have to admit that he's impressed...

Is anybody still reading? Hopefully yes, because I just love the next one!

A1: (Fantasio, thinking) This is stupid, but I'm starting to get used to that Gaston-sytem door!
A3: (Gaston, thnking) After this blow, only one thing to do.... I'm going to put back the hinges of this door, discreetly...
B1: (Fantasio, thinking) Quick! The genius inventor is here, I'm not at risk of getting hit by the door...
B2: ...on the head...
B4: (Gaston): Yeah, but if you do not remember how to use a regular door!

I just love the last line! :p :D  :w00t:

Another one I like... :D Poor Fantasio! :whistling:

BTW, THEHHEUUH! = coughing. :)

A1: (Gaston) Take your spoonful of your cough syrup!
A2: (Fantasio) No, stop, ho! You need to "shake well before use", it's written on the bottle, Gaston!
(Gaston): Ah, ok!
B1: (Fantasio): That's idiot!! THEHHEUUH! Syrup all over my suit! Quick, go get me the stain remover, Gaston! THEUHH!
(Gaston): Yes! But you are a capricious patient!
B2: (Gaston): Here's the stain remover...
(Fantasio): THEUHH! THEUHEUH! And give me that syrup quickly, Gaton!
B3: (Gaston): That's because you made me excited that I got mistaken! And then, you could very well have realized from the taste that I was giving you a spoonful of stain remover to drink...

Just to see Fantasio's face in the last image (and him coughing and... whatever else!) is hilarious!

I have always thought that this is for sadistics :p As a big fan, I suppose I qualify as a big sadistic too :d evil:
The real sign that someone has become a fanatic is that he completely loses his sense of humor about some important facet of his life. When humor goes, it means he's lost his perspective.

Yeah, sure! :p

Aren't these excerpts from earlier Gaston volumes? Because Prunelle isn't around yet, it's his predecessor Fantasio who seems to be in charge at the office.
:) It's interesting to see how Franquin's drawing style has changed through the course of years. The strips you posted are having an even greater impact since they're half the length shorter, and the style of drawing is a bit more simple, thus more effective in the wit they're conveying.

Thanks also for the translations! :o hmy: Wow, you really put a lot of effort in posting them. And I neglected reading them for such a long time... shame on me!

Me too! :D

What, Fantasio disappears? Hem, well, can't say I blame him with Gaston in the office. I'd probably resign if I were in his place! :p

I own just one Gaston volume, given to me at a birthday party when I was in the third grade. I liked it but for some reason never seeked out for more.

Okay, just checked Wikipedia's French article about Gaston. I definitely have one of the earlier volumes, which is "Gala de gaffes à gogo" (R1), the second one in order in the definitive series.

It also explains why Fantasio disappeared, since at one point he would have been part of two different series drawn by two different drawers, and Franquin didn't want that, which I understand. Apparently, he used to be a funny and creative character, but changed when he found himself Gaston's boss.

I hadn't even realized, I had to go back to your earlier posts. I'm definitely no Gaston expert!

When I saw that old post of mine again last night, I didn't even remember what I meant...

As for the translations, I didn't really think you would need them since you originally posted in French. I thought maybe other people would want to enjoy Gaston, even if some of the strips don't really need the dialogs to be understood.

French is what, your 234092343298543 language? :p Err, I mean, your 4th one, right? Very impressive!

Yeah, I think it's justifiable since alongside with the Gaston comics, another series came up called 'Spirou & Fantasio'. Was it that you had in mind?

Neither am I, but I think it's evident that Franquin has somewhat of updated his style in drawing in the later volumes to follow. Maybe it was just a cause of getting used at drawing them? :D

Oh, I never dared to assume you did them just for me, however, still it's convenient to have them translated. The french language still uses to play tricks on me, so I definitely can benefit from it too. :)

Woah  , please don't overestimate me! My first language still remains as the one I can handle somewhat of reasonable. When it comes to the 2 other languages, well I'm just happy being able putting together a sentence the essence of is getting understood by the majority reading it. :hyo:
