Picture the caption game
Hi Guys!
Sorry for not being on, but I moved into my apartment on Saturday. There's wireless internet, but it's not working for any of us at the moment. So, I'm on the internet at the library. I won't be on again for a while, so I'll pick a winner now.
Fauna, for her picture with Rock.
Thanks for playing!

Yes, some of these pictures seem to fit everywhere!"Ataru Moroboshi" wrote:This one has been posted before, I know, by think it fits perfectly with the capion.

I think the caption is good, BTW. I'll find something.

Where does that picture come from?
Obviously, both Astro's and Uran's postures were taken from the ep 'Robio & Robiette. They're appearing in the scene where both of them are watching Robio doing the test run, shortly before the ep's title signet shows up.
Apparently, the pic Fauna posted has been alternated using a different background; as well the character's gestures had been shifted in time for creating the 'remarkable' picture language.
Oh, thanks BTW. I had not recognized the picture at all, except for the fact that it looked like the drawing style of the 1980 series, the one I don't like. For those who do not know what I'm talking about, there were several artists who drew Astro in that series and their styles are easily recognizable. I like the other two but hate this one to the point that I'm not watching these episodes as often.
Reminds me of another picture in the "Photoshop the picture game", in the first pages, that also looks like it's from the 1980s, but nobody had identified it yet. I just found it here.
Makes me wonder how Adrian is doing these days. I wonder if he'll become a famous artist!

I'm rather sure that the foreground (Astro) comes from "a crystal in the desert", but I'm not sure about the background

The real sign that someone has become a fanatic is that he completely loses his sense of humor about some important facet of his life. When humor goes, it means he's lost his perspective.

I don't care so much about the 80's Astro drawing styles anymore.

:d oh: hmmm, what did I say? Ok, obviously I still do care about it.

I don't think so, the drawing style doesn't seem to match the one used in 'Crystal' (and just for the record; yeah, I really really do care about drawing styles....blablah

I agree with you about the two best styles, the one like in "Save the Carolina" and the one in, say, "The Robot Vikings". They are different but both makes Astro look cute in their own way. (I do prefer the former over the latter, but the latter doesn't bother me at all).
The other one, however...

I don't know either what episode the Astro cel appears in, however its drawing style (...and yeah........, blabla) is similar to the one used in 'Save The Carolina 3', or to other eps using that drawing style (.....).
I don't remember which style is used in the Crystal of the Desert, but it does look like the style in Save the Carolina 3. The landscape in the background doesn't even look like an Astro background to me either.

Had to add a quote to put the picture back in its context, but it's straight from that scene so hopefully it's not against the rule (or not too much against it...). I thought the picture fitted so well!

Goliath: "My own head attacking me!"
Astro: "This is why we can't have nice things."
I'll probably have a few more ideas!
I watched the Crystal Castle episode yesterday evening and the style is very close to the style in Save the Carolina 3, although there might be a slight difference. I'm not even sure if there's one but the Crystal style matches the one in the Birth of Astroboy perfectly, while I seem to notice a very, very, very small difference with episodes such as Save the Carolina 3 or The Greatest Robot in the World. It's like Astro's eyes are bigger in comparison to his lower face, but it could very well be the same artist who changed his style a little... or it could be me imaging things.
I haven't seen the picture of the Photoshop game in the Crystal episode, but I was half asleep so I don't think it means anything.
