Full Metal Reality. Is this crazy?

Postby dannavy85 » 18 years ago

Part-human embryos are a chilling step closer as watchdog gives go-ahead for hybrid 'chimeras'

The creation of part-human, part-animal embryos looks set to be approved by the fertility regulator tomorrow.

These "hybrid" embryos would be used for research into incurable diseases such as Alzheimer's.

The news follows a surprise Government decision not to ban the controversial research.

A shortage of human eggs has led two groups of scientists to appeal to the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority for permission to make hybrid embryos from human skin cells and animal eggs.

So.....is mankind starting to mess with things he should leave well enough alone? Kinda makes you think about that Full Metal Alchemist episode where the doctor used Alchemy to combine his toddler daughter and their pet dog into a speaking chimera.

Things like this have more problems than benefits.

Actually, Tezuka created no fewer than 2 stories about genetic manipluation. 1 such story, is 1963 Astroboy ep 71 Mighty Minute (J vers. 80 Humanoid Bill) has to do with a little guy with monkey, rabbit, and human, among other parts. the other is Bagi, the Monster of Mighty Nature

Then, there was the 2003 version of time-hunter. :astro:

But, let me quote one of my C. Heston favorite lines:
"Soon they'll be breeding us like cattle--you've gotta tell 'em!"

:d evil:

Wow... What if we had the chance to see what Earth would be like in 100+ years.... But first the earth has to acknowledge the fact of global warming and do something about it. When Greenland and West Antarctica go theres going to be a big impact on ALOT of people.

"Astro, you must exceed the limitations that humans cannot!
You must be go beyond nationality, ethnicity,
pilosophy, and religion,
starvation and poverty,
and war!
Exceed these limitations created by man!
You must fly high! Higher than any human has ever flown before!
To reach for the future that no human has been able to so far!"

I want to avoid an argument about this, so I will just say that although global warming may be a scientific issue, it is also a political issue. So, please do not mention it again. :p

I understand that we aren't supposed to discuss political issues, I didn't mean it in that way.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. :(

That's hardly good enough! Why don't you put on a big red label, "WARNING: political discussion follows" :D nO, SERIOUSLY, THERE IS NO PROBLEM, i AM JUST BEING SILLY. :p

Stupid caps lock! My new keyboard's [enter] key is rectangular, and smaller than [| \], but larger than [shift]. The old keyboard had a much larger [enter] key, and on the new keyboard, I find myself often pushing the [enter] key when I really want the [shift] key. Worse yet, I frequently punch 2 keys while aiming for 1. :ninja: <-- It vhas been a long time since I used that smiley.
