Nuka is renamed Kris? Ugh..

I recall there were exactly 20 issues. I've seen them show up frequently on eBay, often in complete sets.
And yeah, "Kristal Kleer" wasn't the best choice of girl's names.[/QUOTE]

I read in a Blog that this version of Astro had no idea he was a robot is that true?

Yeah. I don't have all the issues, but I do remember he got really confused when a police officer instructed him to "pick up the parts and drag yer diode back ta yer master or I'll short yer circuits". Then when he learned he was a robot, he thought everyone else was. [On page: I know. EW.]

Well, actually, the comic was being aimed at the 15-30 audience.

In issues #1-9, there's a lot of frightening stuff. Boynton frequently brings about child abuse overtones, a portly female general makes Astro serve in the war, and a robot man explodes after saving Astro from an electrocuting bug. Let alone this one scene where Cacciatore is making Astro fight, so the bug shocks Astro to the point where he hallucinates and sees Boynton as his fighting enemy. He's even crying near the end of the fight. I know of one guy who read the comic before seeing the 80's anime, and he was really surprised to see Tenma being so lite to Astro.

However, every issue after got progressively kiddier, what with the new major roles of Astro Girl, Dr. I. Q. Plenty and background characters Kenny and Andy. [Ken Steacy and Andrew Pratt were the main writers and artists]

Uh, guys, not intending to revive a dead thread, but I'd like to say I have put a walkthrough of the NOW! Comics version on this website. PG-13 for some bizarre scans and mild language. (As well, Imageshack is being cruel again, so a few images may not show up. I'll fix them soon, though...)

Well, all four are fixed. I'm trying to move many of them to a more reliable image host, and as well, I added some new scans.

Well, was there an array of symbols like:
[x] [x] [x] [x]
...below the text? Each of them link to a different picture. (My web hosting program requires me to "republish" the site in order for changes to show, and I may have forgotten to do so.)
