I think the '90s series has content appropriate for Adult Swim, while the newer series might be ok for Toonami.

I wouldnt know i never saw the manga not even a scan, ive only wacthed the movie of 1993 it was kinda gory but still good trough the style was more of the relastic anime style of the 90's and not Tezuka's.
