questions about atlas
Ok, I watched it in J w/ E subs. I still hold that just becuase no reference to the guy's past had been made earlier, it does not seem as waek as you say it is.
So, if you, the viewer never see an incident, it never happened? :d evil:
I think it may introduce a bit of discontinuity, but on the other hand, we are not seeing Atom's life though a gods-eye view. We see only enough to make the stories complete. By an application of your reasoning, Hars Lencom/Lt. Ryuga Nelson never was marooned on mars, because you did not see it happen.
irate: Yes, you saw a visual recollection of it, but not until after Tulip/Cabette/Carlena had begged him to take her along.
No, no, you're missing the point. That's not what I mean at all.
I'm not talking about his brother dying or even him appearing and Astro somehow knowing him, I'm talking about how this guy was just something that the writers pulled out of their butt to make this particular episode work, simply put there to make up for bad writing. I was really more on about this guy somehow magically knowing about the Omega Factor, anyway.
Hars Lencom/Lt. Ryuga Nelson disappearing was an example of a time in which the viewer didn't need to see an event in order for it to make sense. It was something that happened in the past and, in its given story, was referred to as needed.
This guy, whatever his name was, is an example of a character who should've been introduced earlier in the series and should've been given some sort of way or reason for knowing about Atlas's Omega Factor.
Understand?
I should address this separately to avoid confusion, but too bad!
BTW, I saw Tezuka & Blackjack in this episode!
"Daichi" wrote:It was just how these aliens... Well, there is no sign of them throughout the entire anime, no forewarning at all. They are not the ones that attack in the episode with LT. Ketchup, an episode I actually really liked.
Suddenly they appear, and Ochanomizu and everyone are all "they're called invaders, lol" as if they're freaking commonplace.
Now, these randomly appearing aliens randomly decide to blow up the world. First, though, they decide to destroy all of the space stations, and without any evidence, the humans equally randomly decide to blame Atlas for it.
So then we go through the whole 'brothers' subsection where both get really sentimental and loving. That wasn't bad, in itself--actually, I liked it, but...
Now, our episode draws to a close with Atlas deciding to, instead of fighting the aliens, sacrifice himself by making the Crystal turn into a black hole, someting not only nigh impossible but, like the coming aliens, not mentioned once in the entire anime.
And finally, Astro screams in a voice that is the stuff of nightmares, "Niiiiiiisaaaaaaan", like he's loved him forever, even though they were only bro's for a couple of minutes.
Instantly, BAM! Into the happy end credits music. :d oh:
- Ok, this thing about brothers: I am in the midst of Gatchman, & when he G1 suddenly realizes that Red Impulse is his father, he is elated. However, one of them must do the Kamakaze thing to save the earth. Red Impulse does it, leaving Gatchaman grieving over the loss of his father, whom he had not even had the chance to know as his father. In either case, I see no problem.
- black hole: Ok, as you say, this was rather sudden; but so was Atlas’ super medicine that healed Jump. Why should we know about everything before it is used? I admit, it is rather strange, but not as weak as you make it to be.

Oh, and I just remembered something even more retarded!
There's this random guy that's introduced in this episode, I can't remember his name for the life of me. Astro acts like he's known this guy for years and years, even though he's only just been introduced, and what this guy does...
He says Atlas (as we know, actually the aliens) killed his brother in one of the extremely recent space station attacks. Because of this, he's going to get his revenge with a gun that he invented that would destroy the Omega Factor.
1. HOW THE HELL DID HE KNOW ABOUT THE OMEGA FACTOR!?!?
2. How did he complete it so quickly?
3. How does he know what would counter the Omega Factor?
Oh jumping crap, this was the most random, pointless, and badly-written Astroboy episode ever.
</angry daichi rant>

- “HOW THE HELL DID HE KNOW ABOUT THE OMEGA FACTOR?”
Where is it even implied that it is secret? - ”How did he complete it so quickly?”
He might have been working on it for years. I admit, this counter omega factor seems weak, esp. since he just blasted away with his main gun. Perhaps it was poor dialogue. - ”How does he know what would counter the Omega Factor?”
It was in the script. Again, he could have meant that his weapon would simply destroy Atlas, & thus, his Omega 3 fatty acids would have no value. - ”This guy, whatever his name was, is an example of a character who should've been introduced earlier in the series and should've been given some sort of way or reason for knowing about Atlas's Omega Factor.”
LT. Keely's earlier scenes had been cut becauase of an argument over his pay.No-- just kidding, as though it were not obvious.
I could name many stories in which new characters are introduced only when needed. The guy is just a minor character, who was stuck with a very short appearance.
BTW, I saw Tezuka & Blackjack in this episode!

Well, the explanation to Jump's medicine was that Atlas is a genius, and of course he was smart enough to make a medicine. He made it to thank Astro, he didn't just happen to have it on hand, so it makes sense.
But the Crystal... How could it have turned from crystal into a black hole? Only huge celestial bodies can collapse into black holes. In relativity, the Crystal is tiny and not made of the right material. It could do no such thing.

It's not like it's common knowledge. It was made by Guiss and nobody knew what it was. But this guy has no affiliation with anybody.
”How did he complete it so quickly?”

No, there's no way he could've worked on it for years. The attacks happened very recently at this point and everyone was still hot after Atlas. Since the guy's brother died during the attacks, that means he's only been dead a short time.
This part is indeed very weak.
”How does he know what would counter the Omega Factor?”
It was in the script. Again, he could have meant that his weapon would simply destroy Atlas, & thus, his Omega 3 fatty acids would have no value.
What?

Yeah, but you have to admit I'm right on this one. He really should've been introduced sooner and given a way of knowing, etc.

Tezuka? Black Jack? WHERE.
