Last night...
I swear it was like a nightmare. I kept wishing I'd wake up, but...

A few weeks ago I brought home this lost cat. Big orange critter, seemingly quite loveable, and still with a collar. I wanted to find its home...
Soon he proved that he was not the cute and cuddly creature he'd initially seemed to be, he was spoiled to the core, threw fits if he didn't get his way, and began to pick fights with and attack my own cats, making them nervous and somewhat territorial.

Well last night, this evil little piece of crap...
It attacked the sugar glider's cage, knocked it over, got ahold to her...
I tried so hard to save her. I was desperate. I finally forced his jaws open and although I did free her, my hand was bitten clean through by the beast. I picked up the glider and I swear to God, she grabbed my finger in her tiny little paw and just held on.
The internal damage was too much, of course, and she passed away just a few minutes later.

Now my hand is infected and our pet sugar glider's dead.

I have the worst "luck" in the world. Well, I blame myself for this because I'm the one who brought the damn cat home to begin with. I must be cursed.

Just ignore this. I just needed to say something about it.
Don't think I'm a dramaqueen or an attention whore. (I mean, starting another gloomy topic?) I just, y'know. Wanted to get it off my chest.

Both I & my brother brought home stray cats; he still has his, but it was his only pet, other than fish & snakes, & he has had no such problems with his. I can see why you were compelled to to adopt the cat, but already having other pets made a conflict.

Now that I think about it, when I was a kid, we tried to adopt a stray cat, even though we already had a cat and two Dachshunds. Despite the fact that our 1st cat was VERY unfriendly toward all other animals, the only problem occurred when 'Dinky' the stray became pregnant. We did not have her for long once that happened. We were just plain naive & impractical; we had no idea there could be any problems, & we were suckers for potential pets.

If I understood correctly, the hand isn't the problem. The glider won't heal

The only thing I can recommend next time is to understand that cats by nature 'don't play well with others', unless they grow up together. It's a huge leap on their part to even live with humans, and putting them with critters that will trigger their predatory instincts is only tempting the devil, even with a cage.

And yes, some cats are abandoned for a reason.

How did you guys know I was working on a 'Cats of Ulthar' animatic?

What else is there besides Lovecraft?
