So... It occurs to me that none of you have really been enjoying my art.
But I realized why, it was really a simple matter. Up until now, I've really only been posting very rough sketches, that had not been finished.

Well, today I decided to post something complete, so...
Enjoy. Please, soak it up. I want you all to like it!

Rag has always been one of my favourite Tetsuwan Atomu (Astro Boy) characters, and it is easy to see why, when you consider what a kind-hearted and devoted person he is. As the President of Guravia, and the first robot in the world elected to power, he is burdened with untold responsibility, but handles it very well and makes time for the individual people of his country. That is why I admire him so.

Well, the feeling behind this image was something like this. I wanted to capture sweet affections and kindness in a picture of Rag. I sketched him while watching the anime and decided to have him holding a heart.
But a heart by itself was too plain, and I wanted to make it look “electronic”. So I added the jewel ornamentations and the wires attached to the sides, not to mention the gold décor.

hmy: Very impressive! But why such an intricate background? That in itself must have been quite time-consuming. Was the FG superimposed over a pre-existing BG?

If I were to request an image, it would be 2003 Epsilon in a 2-piece bathing suit. If I were to request another, It would be Pipi (Pepe) as depicted in the 80s Astroboy but with a belly button. Were I to request a third image, it would be Mahoro.

Well, I wanted a background that served to add character and enhance the mood, so I thought to use pastels. It's natural pastels combined with cg rendering to achieve an intricate rainbow effect.
Yeah, it took a little time, but I think it was well worth it for the way it turned out. I used layering to ensure that the pastel did not interfere with the foreground.

And the request, I shall take. I may try my hand at Pipi, but I am especially enthused by the idea of 2003 Epsilon in a nice 2-piece. I need some summer pictures, the idea is cute (and sexy, in a PG way), and I would just overall like to do it!
So I'll get to it.

Awesome work, Daichi! This time you really surpassed yourself.

It was a great choice indeed to honor this great character with this superb drawing of yours. I really can't determine what I like most on it, its visual impact is striking as a whole. IMO, the background fits perfectly to the drawing's mood conveyed, you couldn't have nailed it better!!!!!!111!!1!! AAA+++ ONE!!1!!!!
