Are these basically LEGO compatible figures?

Not really, they're just soft plastic collection figures. They get packaged randomly, each figure is distributed with predetermined ratios. Similarly, there's the Be@rbrick.

As far as I know, there's one series of Astro Boy kubricks, one of Metropolis, and two (I think) of Black Jack.

Yeah! Then we could get a Lego Astro Boy game like they did for Star Wars and Indiana Jones XD

I can definitely see an Astro Boy Lego set as part of the 2009 movie merchandise. They made one for "Speed Racer", "The Dark Knight" and "Indiana Jones", you know.

That Astro Boy figure I mentioned before finally got here. Actually, Toys n Joy's one was on "backorder" and after a while I finally gave up and ordered it on Ebay. It is GREAT! It's the best Astro Boy figure in my collection. I'm currently working on a review for it on my Blog and will post that when it's ready
