So, you are basically asking if bumping an old thread is ok; but without a concrete example your question seems very cryptic. I will say this, if you have a question, please do bump any thread you want in asking it. Just do not bump so many threads that you overwhelm us.

I think we have a good example here: jeffbert bumped a 4-years old thread :D In this case, he gave new informations, so this is why it is ok. Asking a question would be ok too, but saying "hi" or "I agree" in such an old thread wouldn't.
The real sign that someone has become a fanatic is that he completely loses his sense of humor about some important facet of his life. When humor goes, it means he's lost his perspective.
