Jeffbert's review of 41 "X Bomb" makes the comparison between Pinocchio & Atom's encounter with the whales.

I think that is it. I really do. I think there is a 1980 color version of it, somewhere.

Just read the review. Yes, with significant changes to the script, this essentially is the same episode we recorded. I can tell you more when I get my scripts out of storage, but sorting through them will take as long as doing the DVD commentary.

I still have my official shirt from the cast, and so many other documentary items. Photos, every script (and I was the only one who saved them, and everyone laughed at me for that); they have all our handwritten changes. Photos, drawings. Is there a museum out there that might want it? eBay? I'd prefer the collection stay intact as one whole piece.

Oops -- I scanned some of them twice. Please excuse it. You will see that I really meant it -- we slept on the floor, the days were so long and the schedule was so tight. The goofy pix are from the day we pretended we were 1940s radio actors. We never got our official shirts until we recorded the theme; when you see us wearing them, that's the day we sang it.

I have so many more, and so many better photos. These were just the first ones I grabbed out of a box.

If anyone is interested:

Top photo, left to right: Debbie Holmes (Theodore); Dave Miller, Patty Whitely (Astro, nearly hidden here); Paul Nelson (Atlas); the amazing and beautiful Kahlei Slick (Astro's mom); obscured image -- probably Greg; Richard Ganoung (Astro's dad).

Next photo: Dave sleeping on the floor. Long day. Greg is sneaking up with a puppet. Yes, we played jokes.

Next, from L-R: Bob Gonzalez (Daddy Walrus); Paul Nelson (Atlas); Becky Wilenski (Urane); me, with the moustache; balding man in the foreground is Del Lewis, our director -- we are about to sing the theme song; that's why there's just the one mic. Otherwise we would all have our own. Debbie Holmes (Theodore); Greg, obscured in the background again; Kahlie; Richard Ganoung (Astro's dad). Bald man in the back, nearly unseen, is Tom Naunas, secondary engineer.

Next: Paul Nelson, playing with a "wind machine" on our 1940s radio party day.

Next: Debbie and Dave, hugging between takes. Debbie was the oldest of us by far; the hug means nothing. We were all pals. But -- at the same time -- we got drunk on love for each other. It was a VERY tight cast.

Next: Dave and Patty (Astro). She just had her baby and is slimming down. She was pregnant during the pilot. And have I mentioned yet that I absolutely love her? And that she is an immensely fine actress? Who can do any possible voice? She is "Pattybear" to me, always.

Next: The amazing, stunningly beautiful Kahlei with her new shirt; Bob Gonzalez (Daddy Walrus) looking on. Nuts, I wish I had been more serious when Kahlei and I had dated . . . ONCE! Sigh . . .

Next: From inside the sound booth. Producer Linda Baldwin in foreground. Dave and Patty on mic. Prime engineer Mike DeMark standing at right. Note the booth playback monitor. We in the cast had a much bigger one inside the studio. Back and forth, take after take.

Next: our 1940s party: We worked all day but celebrated radio drama. From left to right, Greg Zerkle (McLaw); Richard Ganoung (Astro's dad); Kahlei Slick (Astro's mom); Paul Nelson (Atlas), Dave Miller. The mic is non-functioning; it was just stored in the studio. A year ago I learned it was given away for free to someone. Sad. It was an historic piece of radio history.

Next: the cast at lunch. Mike DeMark is in the baseball hat. I am hugging Patty (Astro); we became such good friends. At extreme right is Brian Parry (Daddy Elefun).

Maybe someone could repost the images with these captions? I cannot.

I've resized the pictures so they would be forum friendly, but in case somebody would want the original and bigger versions, here they are:

Thank you for matching the captions to the photos. I'm sure it was not easy.

Whoops - HA! Do you see the coconut head hanging at extreme left of the photo taken from inside the booth? It is mine, and it is hanging over my left shoulder this very second. I have no recollection at all of why I brought it into studio. I think it must have been because it so looked like the big stone head in that one episode, and that everyone in the cast would get a laugh from it. This must be the day after we did that episode.

Wow. I never even noticed that. That coconut head belonged to by grandparents, and it has always been a lucky charm to me.

Okay, I just looked up at it here, and it is looking out the window. But I think it is smiling.

Yes, I just checked, and the coconut head is smiling -- at all of you. For caring so much.
