Imagi's Tetsujin: "T28"

Postby Fauna » 16 years ago

Has anyone brought this up yet? I don't think so, as there's probably not a lot of Tetsujin/Gigantor fans here...

Not too long ago, Imagi set up this site to showcase their plans for T28. Basically, it's a revamped version of the first giant-robot anime ever, Tetsujin 28/Gigantor, plus a bit of Giant Robo/Johnny Sokko, which was made by the same guy.

Intros, in case you're new to this:
Tetsujin 28 (1964
Tetsujin 28 (2004)
Giant Robo (1993)

To be honest, I'm excited that Imagi's getting into Tetsujin, but I'm displeased what they've done to the human characters. Tetsujin and Black Ox look great, but Shotaro doesn't look remotely the same. (It's the hair and face that bother me mostly.) And Dr. Franken! He's done from being a timid old man who builds Black Ox to rival Tetsujin...to a gravely-voiced tyrant with an army of men with cone heads.

The story seems to be the standard stop-the-bad-man-from-taking-over-the-world kind of thing, but keeps Tetsujin's wartime origin. I really hope the rest of the characters look like their conventional designs...I can see Chief Otsuka and Dr. Shikishima going well, but Kenji Murasame (my favorite) might not get to keep his hair.

Wait, Tetsujin-movie?

Holy- I just read about this in my NEO mag, couldn't wait to see it. Didn't think they'd have plans out so early, ^___^

Yay, someone else is interested in the movie! :)

Personally, I like what they've done so far with the movie's plot, just not quite with what they've done to the characters. I really hope Kenji gets into the movie, too, but they don't pull a Tenma on him and make his hair look insane.

I don't like the fact that they've decided to make it all realistic... It should be cartoony, that's part of the fun.

I know what you mean... Shotaro and the others are not cute at all, now. Shotaro looks like an FF dude, >.< And I really hope they put Kenji in it, too, ^__^ Although, maybe they might give him an althogether-makeover?

That trailer was just a temporary thing to gauge interest. The movie will probably not look like that, if it does happen. I'm pretty sure that Imagi has heard the message loud and clear that the humans shouldn't look that way, so don't worry about it. Worry more about them actually getting enough money together to make it!

Really? Whew, that's a relief. But the Astro Boy movie seems to be generating alot, so I think this movie might just happen. :3
