Good find, Kitty.

I agree with the character designer. Keep the clothes on for Astro. I know its not faithful to the original but honestly, I always thought it was weird for him to just wear only a black speedo.

It's weird looking at it from the outside.
I guess exterme heat/puncture resistant skin was more plausible than clothing of the same calibre to Mr Tezuka.

Under hostile circumstance, then yeah, I can buy into idea of Astro having the lack of clothing because it would make logical sense that his clothes would probably get damaged and then stripped off, except the black speedo (I'm assuming its also made of damage-proof material like his skin). For casual situations, then I would imagine Astro to wear different brand of clothes as would normal boys would do. I can't imagine Astro just wearing only the black speedo all-day and everywhere he goes.

In the older manga tales, Atom often wore his school uniform. It appears that his brief was only depicted as being a clothing item twice; once, when Uran wore one to go out & fight Pluto, & also when the (Monster) Mantler spanked Atom.

I recall him wearing clothes a lot in the 80s series so I don't feel it's a big deal. Especially since we're dealing mostly with Americans for this movie and you know how stupid Americans get about nudity or exposed skin in general.
Oh, and great find Kitty :D

Oh! It'll almost be my birthday at that point, what a great present, ^__^

Is the trailer showing in American theatres yet? I'm thinking of trying to catch it while I watch Up!, since both movies seem to be media-aimed atthe same demographic. (Recently found out that it will probably come to Sweden, only it's gonna take a while.)
