If it spurs a creative spark, that's better than being glued to the xbox all day after school.

I do not think that was the intention; rather, to vilify nuclear power & cause kids to embrace the so-called green power sources. This would be ok, were it not for the fact that both wind farms and solar cells are inherently impractical as alternataves to nuclear, oil, or gas. But as though that were not bad enough, now they are wanting them to beleive in this perpetual motion machine they call a "blue core self-sustaining power source."

There are few certainties in life, but one of them is that such a thing can never be. Besides that, as I already rhetorically asked, will they change his Japanese name from 'Atom' to "blue core self-sustaining power source"? :hyo:

I know I should have just held my peace, because now this might become political, an argument about green power Vs. practical power.

Will this inspire the children to believe in such fantasy-based things, and eschew reality? I stop here, lest this become a political discussion.

I honestly think the use of the blue core is more to stress the point that Astro is the "good guy" as from what I've seen the negative core is red... which is a "bad guy" colour.

What was the 03 model of Astro powered by? I don't remember atomic power being used for him either?

If you're talking about that capsule they are about to hurl into a moon crater, just know there is no chance it could do more that blast a few hundred meters of rock ;) They did the same into a comet a few years ago, and the comet is still faring well :D

As for Pluto, it is officially a dwarf planet.

Neither do I, but it is an inherent characteristic, as he was named 'Atom' to show that there could be constructive uses for atomic power.

I did not know about the red Vs. blue thing, I really have not been watching the trailers. :hyo: However, my critique was about the self-sustaining non-poluting part.

Yes, of course. Perhaps we will see some "environmentally friendly robots" in the movie. Actually I think that would be quite amusing to see something like that. Provided they don't overdo it.

I don't think 2003 was incredibly enviromentally friendly saavy, we did have toxic waste dumping and the a couple of bad guys making lots of pollution, but I don't think it is a big issue for Astro.
