Aye fair point, but even as Astro you could see hairs in the animation. See funny how nobody has an answer.
You know there's also some inconsistencies with his skin as to how soft or hard it is. I mean he opens a very solid looking panel in his chest, but once it closes he bends around without a problem. Plus in the 2003 series there's one moment in a close-up of his fingers while he's holding a coin and the coin is pushing down on his thumb like it's normal skin.
And I can add a third mystery: those black underwear. Are they cloth? Metal? Are they part of him? You'd assume yes, but in the 03 series Zoran makes a comment about there not being a bathroom around and she's the less advanced robot.
