This article is speculative at best. Read it carefully and don't get too excited.
Really, I just have hopes that Imagi will still be able to make any movies, not just more Astro Boy movies. Sad to say to say it like that though.

Sayonara.

I do agree with that about the review but I do also believe there will be yet more astro boy in the future...there always has been.

If an R-rated film such as Saw VI does twice the revenue of a PG film that should appeal to baby boomers as well as kids, that should say something. Adults would take their kids/grandkids to see Astroboy, hoping to enjoy it with the little ones. Thus far, few of them have done so. Moreover, Saw VI is nothing new, having 5 films before it with much the same content; thus, Astroboy has flopped at the box office.

Be that as it may, it still does not change the fact that a film with a narrower appeal & a smaller body of viewers from which to draw its audience, & really is just making a variation on a theme that we have already seen five times, etc., still does twice the business.

I read a review that says that the reason why Astro Boy did so unwell next to saw is because of the month. Everyone wants to get scared in October.

I'd have to side with cybotron Wolf, because considering this is Astro Boy a 6th place is quite good. This is a film based on something that has little favour in America (albeit simply apathy) and for it to reach 6th spot is pretty good. May not be top 5, but it's top 10.

And the article is also incorrect about the main competition. The biggest competition is Where the Wild Things Are.

So a sequel is quite possible. Hopefully it'll include Atlas.
