I'm thinking of auctioning my 1980 scripts

Postby jayrath » 15 years ago

I don't know if there's even any interest. I have every script, including some duplicates, cast autographs, sheet music, even a pay stub. I'd prefer for the collection to stay together or use it for the basis of a published scrapbook, but I may break it up.

I'm not using this board to post an advertisement, only asking for advice. Keep it together? Keep it myself? Let it go? Look for an Australian museum of broadcasting?

Thanks!

Send the collection to the Tezuka library in Japan.

I second that notion! Or the museum. I was an archeologist I know they'd appreciate it.

If you feel you don't have the proper resources to care for the collection, Jayrath, holding on to it may not be the best idea. Personally I think donation to a museum of some sort is the best way to go, but if you really need the money than it's well within your right to sell it

Any museum recommendations? I think Australia might appreciate it the best.

Jayrath
This is the homepage for the Powerhouse Museum: http://www.powerhousemuseum.com/
They do a lot of exhibit on modern-day pop culture, such as Lord of the Rings and Star Wars.
If they're not interested, try this: http://www.abc.net.au/tv/collectors/contact/
It's a TV show specializing in collecting and rare finds. They might be able to put you through to someone who can care for your stuff.

Thanks! I know that what I have is rare -- likely unique. I was the only one to keep the full run of scripts. I believe that no one else has the full set, with some duplicates, plus the full cast signatures, lyrics, sheet music, etc. We have the Museum of Broadcasting here in the U.S. Plus there are all my penciled notations regarding pitch, specch rhythm, etc. Still don't know what to do with it. I guess continue to think.
