Well, he mentions in the manga once that he's sixty-eight so it could be possible

I... must... make... this... TO PHOTOSHOP!!! AWAAAAAAYYY!!!
And one more thing ... technically the Baby Boomer generation concluded in 1964. So Tenma is actually a Gen-X dude (more in keeping with his edgy hair and beard).

What's more than just a little freaky is how in blazes Osamu Tezuka foresaw the spikey, funky hair and beard treatments (even on Astro) -- and actually made Elefun more "conventional" looking than Tenma (as Gen-X men are more likely to use gel on their hair/get it buzzed in the back and let it be long on top).

Bet Tenma has a TATOO too!

Did Tezuka foresee it, or encourage it? ;)

Its interesting that although the characters were created so long ago the dates of birth seem reasonable by todays standards give we see them in 03. Makes you wonder if there are some very similar people out there right now.
I know...and I DO wonder about that! Maybe in an alternate universe...

Another thought: I wonder what TV show's Tenma watched as a kid in the 70's: Brady Bunch? Naaah... what was the one with the robotic car (not Dukes of Hazzard - but Knight Rider or something.) And Elefun in a leisure suit doin' the John Travolta dance (or trying to) :(

You KNOW they would've done that stuff!

See, I'm not old enough to know what these scientists might have been up to when they were younger.

It is interesting that some of what Tezuka included did happen. However I figure it just comes down to wild mass guessing, some was right, some was dead wrong.

Like Astro being born in 03, didn't foresee that one. Its fun to think about it though, just imagine if everything robot related had come to pass by the time 03 came and went.

Just thinking about it now, in 2010, Astro would be 7, yet he would still look like the 9 (or 13) year old boy he was built as. His friends would be teenagers while if Toby were still alive he'd be 16.

Dude you made laugh so hard I spilled my Coldstone Creamery Peanut Butter Perfection all over (but it was WORTH it!).

I'm printing that bad boy out and I'm hanging on my bulletin board in my office!

Tooo freaking funny -- Astro's not so sure, is he? He's looking at that peace sign and probably wondering if his electronic brain is misfiring.

love it!
