I ran across this today whilst Googlin' around.
Is that bogus or real?

Oy I didn't express that as clearly as I should have:
Is 2925 the "official" setting of the 2009 movie?
I noticed on the "speeding photo" taken of Astro in the tunnel, they provided 04/07 but no year. Just wondered...seems Tezuka kept the story in the "near" future, and setting it almost an entire millennium away is a break with how he described the story.
Hmmm that's not accurate either -- if he was "born" on April 7 -- he didn't fly until the NEXT DAY - so that date should have been 04/08.

Actually, I don't think it's that far ahead.
Metro City lifted into the air 100 years before the movie. Zog might've taken place with that, being a construction robot and Cora also saying Zog fell to the surface over a 100 years ago. Then when Astro is looking at that plate inside Zog that spells his name, it has the date 2009 on it.
So, if Zog was made for the construction of Metro City then the movie's set somewhere near 2109.
Where did you get the date 2925 if I may ask? o.o

later I added....
UNLESS he was "born" after midnight on April 7, then Tenma brought him home, put him to bed, and he actually woke up later that same morning. That must be it...
nevermind!
