Movies from your childhood...

Postby The Tawashi Bus Hat » 15 years ago

Recently, it seems, every time I venture into the $5 DVD bin at Walmart, instead of schlock horror movies I am seeing more and more wonderful movies from my childhood.

On my most recent excursion, I picked up a 3 - movie set of An American Tale, The Land Before Time, and Balto - for just $8!

Just this year I've gotten The Secret of Nimh, Little Nemo's Adventures in Slumberland, A Goofy Movie, and the epitome of greatness, Space Balls, for a wonderfully low price.

So, this delving into nostalgia land leads me to wonder what were your favorite childhood movies of all time? What were those movies that you forced your parents to watch with you over and over again until the VHS melted?

My favorites, of which I have not been able to find DVD versions of as of yet, are The Elm-Chanted Forest (I have a VHS, but I'm afraid to ruin it), Twice Upon a Time (hasn't seen a DVD release for some reason...), and Little Nemo (AWESOME!).

Lady and the Tramp (as well as the other Disney films of that era).

Star Wars -- the first, the original and ONLY. I have NO IDEA how many times I saw that movie. My youngest brother and I would go to the $1.25 theater and watch it again, and again . . . we could RECITE most of it. It seemed to be the theaters FOREVER (but that was BEFORE the birth of VHS!)

Believe it or not, I found a truckload of DVD sets of the cartoon Avatar The Last Airbender in there. It was one of my favorite cartoons on Nick. I swear, it's almost like an anime, but the only way you can tell that it's from the US is because the voice acting actually fits the charater's lip movements perfectly (as opposed to anime with the English voice dub out of sinc slightly)
You're not a joke, you fit right in!
So shake it off, and give a grin. Don't be afraid to stand your ground! Crazy, noisy BIZARRE Town!
