Thank you, AprilSeven! When I started these reviews, my goal was to inform people, mortify people, and entertain people all at once. I'm always happy to see my work is going well. The production value is so abnormally low on these comics, and it's almost depressing. :d oh: I've lived with these comics for three years, and it's at the point where I have nightmares where NOW! Comics or Steacy ruin other shows I love.

OH WAIT.

I suggested it on his forum at thatguywiththeglasses.com Maybe if more people do the same he'll start thinking about it

Hey look, it's Issue Nine! And it's terrible!

http://s333.photobucket.com/albums/m362/astroNOWcomics/Issue9/

I've also got the review completed, but I feel it's not as good as it should be. Most of the comic was drawn-out action sequences or transitions, and not a lot of ridiculous material, so it's a bit shorter...

In one of the panels, you can see Duke Red/Tas Tamil's mother. She looks about as good as you'd expect:

Hehehe, issue 9 is terrible. Tawashi looks....just...awful... xD And was it just me, or does the actual comic book seem shorter than the others? Not to mention the plethora of uglier-than-normal-for-Steacy panels. I blame cocaine. Starting with this issue, they all seem to get REALLY, REALLY BAD, not just the 'wow, these are bad' from 1-8. Good job, Steacy - as if your art wasn't horrible enough, you are now a writer straight from the dark side of Fanfiction.net. Cheers.

...I didn't even notice that stamp until you showed that pic. It's not just your copy that has it, BTW. xD What is that? *looks* "Never to be removed from psycho-ward library". Uh-oh.

EDIT: My award for worst cover in the history of forever is a four-way tie between 5, 7, 10 and 13, with 20 getting my coveted "Not A Complete Failure" award.

Congratulations. You all deserve it.

I think they all started to increase in crapulence because Tony Caputo performed one of his famous paycheck divisions on Steacy. And that stamp says "??????ORE ARTIST". It's not the first time...I remember in issue 15, you can clearly see tape all over the page when Astro reads a letter.

The more I work on these reviews, the angrier and angrier I get about them, because it's very evident in this particular issue that Ken Steacy never gave a crap. Particularly this mindblowing panel...

These are doodles. DOODLES. People paid money for this issue, and I'd never sleep again if I did that in one of my comics! Sure, Cinderelliot wasn't that good from an author's retrospect, but at least I tried in every single panel. I know from experience that you need to make sure you're comfortable with all the character designs and the concept of a comic long before you start. And at any point, if you can't go on, get a replacement (or if you're not doing it commercially, just stop). They didn't try the latter until Steacy's art was borderline shabby.

I'd like to talk to Ken Steacy about this comic someday, since I know where to get in touch with him (hopefully before I completely lose my temper in a review).

BRB, LAUGHING FOREVER AT ASTRO'S FACE.

But dear lord, this whole thing is painful. ):

I just had a quick look for Steacy cause i'd never heard of him until now (although, the name does sound extremely fermillior... did he work on one of the sonic the hedgehog comics at some point? Or is it just someone with a VERY similar name?) and his other stuff does seem, on the whole, extremely good.
It kinda makes me sad to see someone with such talent create stuff like this.

I could go on forever about the anatomy errors throughout all the scans, buttt... That'd just be me going into art student rraaggee.
Just... If i made any of the errors in this comic, I'd be penalized by my tutors for it... It kinda makes me sad that published stuff gets away with it all the time. D:

Dude, that looks like it was drawn by a child! @_@ And Astro apparently has his face pressed against some invisible glass! o.o

Now THIS is what a Astro comic should look like.

Might not be like Tezuka's style but it wipes the floor with NOW comics anyday XD. ( If only imagi had hired her to make a comic  )

I found Steacy's home publishing email address. As soon as I gather the courage, I'll try and ask him some polite questions about the comic, but I'm too scared to do so now.

Maybe I could use a fake persona. "Hi, my name is Spike Spiegel*, and I was wondering if..."

If I managed to do this, I need some really good questions, nothing like "Did you draw in special inks that would ignite my retinas?" Maybe stuff about what went on in NOW! Comics or designing the comic. What would you guys ask him?

*If you don't get it, just Google Cowboy Bebop.

Hmmmmmmm, I got a question for him.

'What inspired you to make a mockery of Astro Boy? And why is Tenma like that Granny off Psycho?'

Joke joke, I think my questions would beeee.

'What inspired you on the storyboard and what was the most difficult aspect of drawing the comic?'
