Nonononono, the Australian set only has the DUB.[/QUOTE]If the DUB is decent i don't really care about subs besides i wanted the extra's and why did they cut the first 2 episodes in one anyway ?
It's not like they removed anymore violent parts later on but they could easily have etleast included that removed stuff with atlas in the US version because i thought that was really epic.

I would agree it's worth getting the AU set mostly for the first two episodes (and any additional extras it might have), but I just thought it was very misleading to say it was better to just get that one and forget the US set.

Any dub, even if considered excellent do not reflect the original product and I see it as a similar as watching something pan & scanned, or with scenes cut. It's a butchering of the original product. But the 80's dub isn't even good, in fact it's so bad it's funny at times.

Considering Dark Horse finished releasing the manga nearly ten years ago, I'm not surprised that they've let their licensing rights lapse. However, used bookstores and comic book shops might still have the volumes available for a fair price, and RightStuf.com has most of the volumes listed, though I don't know if it still has them in stock.

Since Vertical has been licensing a bunch of Tezuka's other works, they might license rescue Astro Boy if enough people show interest (and if they release the series in omnibus format, so much the better :D ).

You mean all 23 volumes in one?

Oh, this is probably worth a mention. For anyone with an iPad, you can subscribe to Tezuka Osamu Magazine Club. This lets you read any Tezuka manga available in English for $10 a month. I wish I had known about this before, cause it's by far the cheapest way to read his works, and the faster you read the more you save. One month is just about enough to read the entirety of Astro Boy, again just for $10. I'd have bought an iPad instead of an entire cabinet worth of manga if I had known this would come along...

More like two-volumes-in-one or three-in-one. But it would be quite interesting to see a company try to print a 23-volume thick omnibus...

Yeha your right with that but i kinda hate reading subs the only reason i got used to watching in japanse was when i got into series that wern´t even dubbed or never will be dubbed.

And i´m not saying i do even prefer just any dub above Japanse in fact i always watch japanse on my pc since a few years but when watching a DVD or Blu-ray it´s better for my family and possibly other pepole hearing English instead of Japanese they actually like some things i put on in English what they most likely wound´t even care for if the Japanse track started to play.

But yeha all those stupid edits in older english anime Astro Boy,speed racer ,space battle ship yamato,Bible stories,Gigantor,Prince Planet, the 8th man, battle of the planets etc so much stupid edits there everywhere.

Woah woah woah wait! The 80's series is outta print!? Well in my case it doesn't matter because thank God I got the DVD set on Christmas 2010. I just need the last 2 mangas, and I must have them now. Man I sound like a crazy otaku.

Actually they did release books one and two in an omnibus edition. I have it in addition to the entire standard set. As far as I know there never were any further combined releases however.

Frankly I wish they would reissue the collection in hardcover. Hardcover books always last better than softcover anyway.

Well, I think if you start sending the message out now, to Dark Horse, that it might be profitable for them to re-issue the manga, especially with the 50th anniversary of the original show coming up, who knows? There is a distinct possibility that with the anniversary coming up the current licensees of Astro Boy will want to somehow cash in on it. At least it's a thought.--I  :astro: :)
