Yessir, that was some serious BS, and it sure as heck pissed me off!
fafner wrote:The PS3 is scheduled to feature no less than 7 co-processors for various tasks such as 3D preprocessing, physics computations, the game itself, etc. This is considered by many people as overkill and/or too complicated for most game developpers, who are likely to use only the main processor. I guess that some people can have some grudge toward Sony for putting too many co-processors with such a high price.

For sure. What they did was bad enough, their response made it even worse.
I think it's more than that though. Sony hardware has really gone downhill. It's like they're resting on their reputation from the early 90s when they made really high quality stuff.
Also, a lot of their hardware is hard to modify and they push proprietary technologies (like the minidisc range, the memory stick range, ATRAC, OMG, VPT, Universal Media Discs, Video8, Betamax, HiFD discs, MMCD discs, Sony Dynamic Digital Sound, MpegMovieVX, the list goes on) which force you to use Sony or Sony-licenced products.

fafner wrote:I am a GNU/Linux developper, and I can tell you that I have no idea how to use 7 co-processorsI am always basing my programs on the one-thread design, knowing that a few tasks may need extra threads (network management to name one). Game specialists sometimes use another one for physics (Havok in Oblivion). I have no idea how to use 7 extra tasks, be it GNU/Linux, a modified Linux kernel, or a proprietary system. It is not even sure that Linux will be used at all as the main system.
1magus wrote:Trust me it will be it was in the PS2 and is in the PSP.
As for 7 and a main does it matter? If someone decides not to use the other 7 than no big deal right? The point is they are there if you need them, if some crazy developer can find out how to make a game that uses all 7 and the main than good for him.
EDIT: If anything it will be either FFXIII or FF Versus XIII or FFXIV or FFXV either one those guys can figure it out dude trust me MUHAHAHAHAHAHA!
