No, it isn't.  On the first thread you had given us a link to (here, I can see that people commented on a mistake on on box : "Bonjour ! Je m'[b]appèle Astro."  (Hi!  I'm called Astro.)  :wacko:  It should be "appelle"!  People are like "Don't you have any grammatical corrector?",  "Did the person who wrote this went to school?"    Nothing as bad in the above screenshots though! [/b]

However, I don’t recall having multiple choices to find the mistake. So I guess they might have been included during the following show and not part of the actual Astroboy show?

I think here it displays the difference between the canadian and the french version. While the french version of the game had provided multiple choice answers, apparently the canadian one did only come up with just one possible solution. I remember after Astro finished his report, there were actually 2 voices (female & male) leading through the game, while in the canadian version you hear just one female voice talking.

If that is the case, Strange Wings, do you want me to make up multiple choices for the summaries I already have so you could play (and get a higher success rate)? Then you’d really have it all!

You're right, in fact she didn't give any hint at all. The canadian Astro fans hadn't had any other choice than just to listen carefully to Astro's summaries while the french fans had 3 possible answers to choose from. :angry: If you ask me, c'est pas juste!
Hence the french participants had had the far bigger advantage in winning the game than the canadian ones. Oh well... <_<

B) They definitely help, yeah. They also contribute a lot for guys try learning french (like me ). As soon as I happen to hear the 3 possible answers, it involuntary forces me to check out the report again. Thus, there's a big chance of my french becoming better in course of time.

I meant the opposite, of course, but I think you got it anyway...

I don't think Canadians and French competed against each other. I'm not even sure if the show was first broadcasted at the exact same time.

Well, the English dub calls this one Atlas Returns. Maybe he was so angry because we didn't notice he went away.

I believe it's a mistranslation.

The original Japanese is Denkou Ningen, which translates to Electric Light Human. (Denkou=Electric Light, Ningen=Human)
But if you put Lightning into Babelfish you get Denkou, then if you go back the other way and put Denkou into Babelfish you get Electric Light.
However, my Japanese dictionary says the word for Lightning is Inazuma. Even Babelfish admits that Inazuma means Lightning.
Obviously lightning is essentially electric light, but I don't think it's an accurate translation of Denkou, particularly in this context.

As for him being an electric light human, I guess the emphasis is on the polarised light used to make him visible. And he was called Light Ray in the English dub.

Incidently, this episode features a Christmas party with Daddy Walrus dressed up as Father Christmas. The episode was first screen in Japan on Christmas Eve, 1980.

As for the star, good question! Do the Japaneses celebrate Christmas? What about the new year?

Also, it looks like they got their titles from this Tezuka page. I guess those are literal translations of the original Japanese titles. Are they totally accurate translations? Because why Damdam's neck? I guess he must have been called Damdam in the Japanese dubbing.

Also take, for example, "The Vehicle, White Planet". It might be a litteral translation of the Japanese title, and I'm sure the Japanese didn't come up with strange titles, but translated literally, it's one ugly title (which is what the French title is).

I guess we can already bet what the next titles will be:

27. Opérations majeures par Black Jack (I haven't seen this one in French but I'd be surprised if he was called Black Jack since the French dub was made from the English dub... but since they kept Damdam, who knows! )
28. La grande aventure du petit robot Sam
29. Astro contre Atlas: le roi de la glace

and so on! I don't have anything against new titles, as long as they keep them French and make sure they match the dubbing!
