There was an Arabic dub that aired on a number of the Gulf satalite channels, it's rarely shown . However, I've mostly seen the French version on the MANGA network on the dish before they blocked the channel :d oh: and I've also seen the Turkish version.

There were a few cuts in the French version (nothing nearly as bad as the 1980 French series, at least!). IDP restored the series - there is an option to watch the missing footage in Japanese when subtitles even when watching the French version. That's how it should be done. I've yet to find the differences in the lines though - I don't know the French version from memory, so even if I now watch it in Japanese, I may not see what the differences are.

I don't know if it's just me, but I hear "Maria-Antonietta" instead of "Marie-Antoinette" in Japanese!

I would guess that's because "Marie-Antoinette" can't be pronounced in Japanese. The sound "toi" ("t-wa") doesn't exist, in opposition to "to-n-i-e".

I watched an episode with the opening and closing credits. I'm not sure I had ever made it until the end of the Japanese closing credits before. I did hear André scream this time.

In the Catalan version, André screamed at the end of the credits, too. The voice actor was the same who dubbed Son Goku, Crayon Shin Chan's dad or male Ranma Saotome. This guy (who is called Marc Zanni. BTW, my real name is Marc, too) has the virtue of being one of the best screamers both in Catalan and Spanish languages, and so, in the morning sometimes I heard that : "OOOOOOSCAAAAAAAAAAAAAR!". And think: "André has screamed: time to get up for high school."

Yes, guys, I used André as an alarm clock!

I had no clue that Stevie Wonder had sung that song, I had only heard the rap version. Thanks a lot for the link Marc (what do I know about Spain, I thought it was "Marco" there! ), the result is absolutely beautiful!

Wow, I was thinking at first that there was indeed a lot of work put in, but that many? hmy: Wow! In comparison, I botched my own Astro montage! The guy even listened to the series just so he could create the video!

There's another interesting note: Remeber Jean de La Motte, Rosalie's sister? She actually existed, however she didn't die, but fled to England and got to be a memeber of London's jet-set and a successful writer (with no actual talent, but...) and died two years before Marie-Antoniette from an accident: like in the manga and the anime she fell to her death from a window. Her widowed husband Nicolas, who was with her at London, got back to France shortly after the proclamation of the Republic, rejoining the army.

About my real name, actually, it's in Catalan language, which is more similar to French than Spanish, and "Mark" is "Marc", like in French. In the rest of Spain it's "Marcos", but is getting fashionable to put "Marc".

New trivia: Rosalie actually existed, too!!! The real Rosalie was called Rosalie Lamorlière (and not "La Moriere"), and as shown in the manga (not in the anime, which ends with Oscar's death. The manga goes on for a full volume until Marie-Antoniette's execution) she was the queen's chambermaid during her confinment in the Temple prision. All the rest of her story was pure fiction.
